The Ontario Trail Network is a geospatial database of trail ‘segments’ in urban, rural and wilderness settings.

Examples of trail types include:
* hiking, running and walking
* cycling and mountain biking
* all-terrain vehicle
* equestrian
* canoe and portage

Trail segments define a linear corridor through the natural or urban environment. They may be long single segments or form a looping system. The Ontario Trail Network project is the combined efforts of trail organizations and three levels of government (Federal, Provincial and Municipal) working to create a common and shared trail infrastructure which is composed of trails and their descriptive attributes across the whole of the province.
